Day Trip from Marrakech to Ait Benhaddou via Telouet
Aït Ben Haddou & Telouet Day Trip from Marrakech
Discover the magic of Morocco’s south on a full-day journey from Marrakech to two of its most iconic sites: Aït Ben Haddou and Telouet Kasbah. Travel through the spectacular landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains and explore ancient architecture, Berber history, and unforgettable desert scenery.
Your day begins with an early departure from Marrakech. Travel across the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, the highest mountain pass in Morocco, offering incredible views of valleys, Berber villages, and rugged peaks. Your first stop is the remote and fascinating Kasbah of Telouet, once the palace of the powerful Glaoui family. Explore its crumbling halls and intricately decorated rooms that tell stories of Morocco’s tribal and colonial past.
Continue through the Ounila Valley, a scenic off-the-beaten-path route filled with red rock canyons and small villages, until you arrive at Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient ksar (fortified village) has appeared in many famous films such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Walk through its narrow alleys, climb to the top for panoramic views, and discover traditional clay architecture that has stood for centuries.
After lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the kasbah, return to Marrakech in the evening.
